MADC AWARD NIGHT DIGITAL INVITATION
The Melbourne Advertising and Design Club’s annual awards night is the one night of the year where members of the local industry can enjoy a little bit of fame. So when the MADC briefed us to do the invitation campaign, it didn’t take us long to cast our minds back to the story of Corey Worthington.
|
Corey was a previously unknown Melbourne teenager who became famous literally for one night when he sent out an open party invitation via his MySpace page. As a result, over 500 drunken teenagers turned up to his parents’ house, the party spilled onto the street and the police showed up only to have their squad cars trashed. The chaos, combined with Corey’s unapologetic TV interviews made headlines around the world. The synergy with the MADC night was obvious. We came up with the campaign theme ‘Be famous for a night,’ made Corey its official spokesperson and even recreated his original MySpace page and invite. All of which ensured Corey’s second party was an even bigger hit than his first. |
